With the nude face being ane of Autumn 2010's hottest trends, it would be easy for you to only plough to your favorite shimmery champagne shadow, swipe a flake over your chapeau, and run out of the house. Skin glowing and cheeks instantly tinted cherry-red past the late-autumn arctic, y'all're the epitome of ultimate chic. Only if you experience the look is too plain â€" as well blank â€" and you're tempted to reach for that black liquid liner and slap on a thick cat center, why not turn to your earth tones instead?

On i of my monthly trips to Sally's a while back, I had just finished my hair production shopping and was waiting for my father to pick me up. Having already examined the aisles twice (I'm always convinced I've missed some new, revolutionary product that's been quietly tucked in betwixt the Cholesterol Masques and the clarifying shampoo), the only display left was the makeup.

I'll admit it. I'm a makeup snob. Seeing cost tags of $v.99, $2.99, and, it pains me to say, $0.99, I was more than skeptical of these modestly packaged beauty items. I reluctantly bowed my caput down towards the blank-bones rack.

I skimmed over the cheap looking glitters, eyeliners in simple glass pots, and miles of mini-palettes that I was sure contained less pigment than a freshly done brush.

"Oh, those are greeeeeaaaat." I snapped my head up in time with the bursting of the clerk'southward gum bubble. She sucked the pinkish goop into her mouth between pastel lips and nodded. "Yeah, they're like, comparable to MAC shadows. Actually pretty. Great paint. I looooove ‘em." She went back to examining her nails.

Comparable to MAC shadows? I thought she had to exist exaggerating, only fortunately for me, there was one shadow available for testing.

And she was right.

I bought 20. For less than a dollar each, I could afford to have the hazard that the tester I had swatched was simply some mistake; a high-stop section shop brand shadow that had been cleverly or accidentally swapped into a Sally Daughter compact to fool makeup enthusiasts like myself. How glad I am that this complicated confabulation was completely incorrect.

I purchased a huge variety of shades, from blues and navies, to purples and magentas, to woods greens and day-glo limes. But being the flavour it is, the 6 earthtones I hauled accept taken a semi-permanent spot in my kit (at to the lowest degree until purple becomes de rigeur once more). Each of them has a very fine shimmer, which turns metallic when applied wet.

Auburn is a sort of orangey burnt-copper shade, perfect for this season'southward orange eyeshadow look if you don't want to be so in-your-face well-nigh information technology. This shade looks stunning with dark-green optics, and works well as an eyeliner if yous want a no-fuss, unproblematic-chic await for days when you have minimal time but demand to await put-together.

Copper is actually more of a burnished, almost-antique aureate (merely with a scrap more chocolate-brown in information technology). The end on this is absolutely gorgeous, and creates almost a slick sheen that'southward nearly impossible to duplicate without the use of creams or gels.

Espresso is a slightly more matte (though all the same shimmery) java-brown. Nothing peculiarly different about this one, but it is just a fantastic, all-purpose brown that would be great for creating a more than played-down smokey center.

Brick is possibly my favorite in this palette. Information technology's an astonishing reddish dark-brown, perfectly reminiscent of sun-baked, natural brick. Information technology has an odd multidimensionality most it that'south difficult to describe. The closest I can relate it in words is that it looks like a really expensive gel-pen, one that you would have to ship away for from a specialty art supplier, and you order information technology on its ain, not as office of a set. You go along this pen hidden away in your drawer to make certain that no ane grabs information technology to scribble down a quick grocery list or jerky telephone message; this is for your use only.

Champagne is actually more of a frosty white-gold. It's fantastic for highlighting the brow-os on lighter skin, or placing at the inner tearduct to burnish upwards tired eyes. I've besides used information technology as a base of operations color for a more natural, light-hearted Daughter World look.

Mauve is a pinky-beige, and possibly the most matte of whatever of these shades. It has a slight bit of rose in information technology, and is lovely every bit a crease colour to add together some depth with zero else on your lids. Pair it with Auburn for a fantastic, low-central, all the same eye-popping look.

I adopt all of these shadows when applied moisture. This method intensifies the colour without deepening it (a problem I find with a lot of other shadows), and increases the wear-fourth dimension twice over. Applied dry, these shadows wear for nigh iii hours before beginning a slow fade. With a primer, expect to at to the lowest degree double this time again.

Formula-wise, these are all just gorgeous. They apply similar silk, don't change consistency during clothing, rarely migrate (I've merely ever seen this happen once), and produce barely whatsoever fallout.

My merely gripe with these is the packaging, which looks rather inexpensive. And although I similar the linking ability of these fiddling compacts, the lids are rather flimsy. I've already had two popular off (they'll snap back on again, until you open them). Beware of this when travelling (I always pack mine separately from the rest of my kit, in a ziplock handbag, just in case one of them decides to open itself all over my products.) And aye, possibly I'd like a chip more wear-time. Simply with a small dab of primer, this minor complaint is locked away.

And so, for less than a dollar each, at that place'south really no take a chance here, and your eyes certainly have a lot to gain. I mean, c'monday. These are greeeeeeeeaaaat! I looooooooove ‘em!
